What is LCM?

In mathematics, least common multiple, which is ordinarily reffered to as LCM is characterized as the smallest non-zero number which is divisible by both given numbers 54 and 81.

Properties of LCM

  • LCM follows associative property, that means LCM(54, 81) = LCM(81, 54).
  • LCM follows commutative property, which means LCM(a, b, c) = LCM(LCM(a, b), c) = LCM(a, LCM(b, c)).
  • LCM follows distributive property, which means LCM(ab, bc, ad) = d * LCM(x, y, z).
  • The LCM of two given numbers is never less than any of those numbers. Eg- LCM of 54 and 81 is 162, where 54 and 81 are less than 162.
  • The LCM of two or more prime numbers is their product.

Hence, LCM of 54 and 81 is 162.

Steps to find LCM of 54 and 81 by Common Division Method

Example: Find lcm of 54 and 81 by Common Division Method

2 54 81
3 27 81
3 9 27
3 3 9
3 1 3
1 1

Hence, LCM of 54 and 81 is 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 162.

Steps to find lcm of 54 and 81 by Formula

Example: Find lcm of 54 and 81 by Formula

  • GCF of 54 and 81 = 27
  • LCM of 54 and 81 = (54 x 81) / 27
  • => 4374 / 27

Hence, LCM of 54 and 81 is 162.

Examples
